Dad & Lad Camping Experience

(mums/aunties/uncles.........all welcome)

The dad-n-lad sleepover takes place at Go Commando centre, Shorrocks hill, Formby. Steven and his team were inspired to host a back-to-basics family event during the summer holidays based around camping, fishing and barbecues after hearing countless stories about children sitting in front of their computers all weekend and not getting any fresh air, exercise or more importantly some one-on-one time. Steven said this is as honest as it gets, no tv's just you, your loved one and the great outdoors!! On arrival the kids are issued their military style bivvies, jungle sleeping bags, mess tins, folding camp chairs and various other bits and pieces. After a demonstration on how to pitch a military shelter with a low profile the groups will go away to put up their own.‘‘Once the bivvies are raised we all will march down to the beach for some fun and games, with a Recce patrol in the sand dunes. After we have worn ourselves out in the sand you will be given a map of the area and set off to complete a treasure hunt with the parents. This will take navigational and bonding skills as the two of you will have to work as a team to reach their destinations. . After all the excitement and lots of "fresh" air we will have some very hungry young soldiers on our hands so time for a barbecue with some down time in the sun. The kids will be given a briefing on which wood makes best to start a fire (kindling) and sent away to forage for firewood while the dads had a deserved break. Once we have the fire roaring the children will be given a military style warm-up for some great games!!! The day will finally draw to an end with some marsh mellow kebabs and then bed down with your children under the stars. Reveille will be at 08:00 when we will pack away our kit and issue the children with an " I went camping with Dad certificate" memories that will last a life time.
